Need something specific?

Bespoke trial reports, custom color matches, regulatory filings — our applications team can prepare documentation for your project on demand.

How to use this library

A working reference for converters, brand owners and pre-press teams

The CFS documentation library is organised around the questions a real packaging team asks during a project. Specification datasheets sit alongside ICC profiles, press setup guides, regulatory filings and recyclability test reports — everything signed off by our applications and compliance leads, dated, and version-controlled so you always know which revision your prepress team is working from.

Documents marked PDF are available for instant download once you sign in to the converter portal. Documents marked on request are released after a short qualification check — usually because they contain customer-specific formulations or third-party lab reports that we are contractually required to release individually.

What each document category is for

Technical datasheets describe the foil itself: carrier construction, release-layer chemistry, metallised layer thickness, adhesive compatibility, optical density and recommended storage. Use them as the source of truth when populating your converter ERP and writing the artwork specification sheet your brand owner signs off.

Press setup guides translate the datasheet into operating windows for specific press platforms — Bobst Master M5/M6, Heidelberg Speedmaster XL, Nilpeter FA-22, Mark Andy Performance Series and others. They contain reference anilox volumes, UV lamp doses, web tensions and nip pressures known to work on each substrate family, so a first-time operator can hit specification on the first form.

ICC profiles and CxF/X-4 colour data let pre-press teams soft-proof overprint colours on top of cold foil with confidence. Each profile is built from a measured printed reference under D50 lighting on a calibrated spectrophotometer, with the substrate and overprint varnish documented in the profile description.

Compliance and sustainability documents cover EU 10/2011 food-contact migration, REACH and RoHS declarations, FSC chain-of-custody certificates, ISEGA and PTS repulpability studies, ISO 14001 environmental management certificates and the latest verified PAS 2060 carbon-neutral statement.

How versioning and retention work

Every PDF carries a revision code in the footer in the form REV-YYYY-NN. When a document is updated — a new ICC profile, an extended substrate matrix, a refreshed lab report — the previous revision stays accessible for twelve months so converters mid-qualification do not have to re-sign artwork against a moved goalpost. Older revisions are then archived; if you need a specific historic version for an audit, our compliance team can retrieve it from the internal archive within two business days.

Sign-in events on the converter portal are logged for traceability: which document was downloaded, by which authenticated user, at what timestamp. This protects both sides — you can prove which revision was in use during a production run, and we can prove that a controlled document was released under our IP terms rather than copied from an open URL.

When to ask for something custom

If the standard documentation does not cover your project — a non-listed substrate, an unusual press configuration, a regulatory regime outside the EU/US/CN scope, or a bespoke pigmented foil developed for one brand — our applications team can prepare a project-specific qualification pack. Typical turnaround is one to three weeks depending on whether new lab work is required.

Common custom packs include narrow-web label-press qualification reports, full-spectrum metameric colour studies for jewellery and cosmetics brands, deinkability and re-pulpability evidence under specific regional standards (CEPI EPRC for Europe, FBA for the United States, INGEDE for newsprint streams), and migration-testing protocols under the food-contact framework you operate in.
