Cold foil stamping is a heat-free, inline decoration process: a UV adhesive is flexo-printed onto the substrate, the metallic foil is transferred and instantly cured, and the foil can be overprinted in the same press pass. The result is mirror-grade decoration at flexo speeds — without the bottleneck or thermal damage of hot stamping. The chemistry of cold foil is the same across verticals: UV adhesive, vacuum-metallised carrier, instant cure, peel-and-overprint. Cosmetics & Beauty

Cold foil stamping is the dominant decoration choice for premium skincare and prestige fragrance secondary packaging. Mirror-grade gold and silver finishes are flexo-printed in register with brand typography on coated SBS at 250–350 m/min, then overprinted in the same pass with transparent CMYK to create custom metallic hues — rose gold over magenta, champagne over warm yellow, deep emerald over teal. Because the foil is laid down inline, there is no make-ready offline at a hot stamping station, which collapses lead time from 7–10 days to 36–48 hours.

Wine, Spirits & Champagne

Wet-glue and pressure-sensitive labels for still wine, sparkling wine and premium spirits run at 80–180 m/min on narrow- and mid-web flexo. CFS holographic and rainbow cold foils give sommeliers and on-shelf shoppers an instant authenticity signal, and our cationic UV adhesive system survives ice-bucket immersion and cellar humidity without flagging. For Champagne capsules and back labels, we ship dedicated low-tack release tuned for thin coated stock.

Process at a glance

Four inline steps, one press pass.

  1. 01 — UV adhesive print

    A cationic UV-curable adhesive is flexo-printed on the substrate in the exact image area where foil is desired, at 2–4 g/m² coat weight.

  2. 02 — Foil transfer & cure

    The metallised carrier web is nipped against the wet adhesive and cured under UV lamps in milliseconds, locking the aluminium layer onto the package.

  3. 03 — Carrier peel-off

    The PET carrier peels away cleanly, leaving foil only where the adhesive was printed. The spent carrier is rewound for recycling at 98% recovery.

  4. 04 — Inline overprint

    Downstream print units lay CMYK process, brand colours or matte/gloss varnish directly over the foil to build custom metallic hues and protect the surface.
