Why buyers choose us

What makes a credible cold foil stamping supplier?

Packaging buyers in 2026 are consolidating around mill-direct suppliers with documented compliance and on-press engineering — not trading desks. Here is how we are set up to meet that bar.

Vertically integrated mill

We coat, metallise and slit cold stamping foil in-house — not a trading desk. Direct factory pricing, full lot traceability and consistent color match across reorders.

ISO 9001 + REACH / RoHS

Every master roll ships with a CoA. Adhesives, release layers and pigments are REACH SVHC, RoHS, EU 10/2011 and FDA 21 CFR 175.105 compliant for food-contact secondary packaging.

Press-proven at 450 m/min

Tested on Heidelberg, KBA, MPS, Gallus, Nilpeter and Bobst inline cold-foil modules. Stable transfer on UV-flexo, UV-offset and sheetfed offset platforms.

Global logistics

FCA Shanghai/Ningbo, DDP for EU and US converters, and small-parcel air for sample rolls. Bonded warehouse positions in Rotterdam and Los Angeles cut reorder lead time to 3 days.

Cold foil vs hot stamping foil

Cold foil vs hot stamping foil — direct comparison

Cold foil is inline, UV-cured, dieless and runs up to 450 m/min — best for PSL labels, folding cartons, flexible packaging and cosmetic tubes on paper, BOPP, PET, PP and PE. Hot stamping foil uses a heated brass die offline at 20–60 m/min, wins on heavy board, leather and small-run luxury print, and delivers a tactile deboss cold foil can't reproduce.

Quality control

How we control cold foil quality — from PET to CoA

Five-stage QC program built around ISO 9001 procedures and third-party compliance dossiers. Every master roll ships with a lot-specific Certificate of Analysis.

01 · Incoming raw material

Every batch of PET carrier, aluminium vapor-deposit target and pigment lot is tested for thickness (±3 %), gloss (60° gloss meter) and adhesion (ASTM D3359 cross-hatch).

02 · In-line coating monitoring

Coating weight controlled to ±0.3 g/m² by beta-gauge; release-layer curing verified per shift with FTIR.

03 · 100 % camera inspection

Every master roll is inspected at slit for pinholes, streaks, edge waviness and color drift (ΔE ≤ 1.5 vs. master swatch).

04 · Lot traceability & CoA

Each production lot ships with a Certificate of Analysis: color ΔE, adhesion, coating weight, batch ID, REACH SVHC and RoHS statement.

05 · Compliance dossiers

REACH SVHC, RoHS, EU 10/2011, FDA 21 CFR 175.105, Prop 65 and Nestlé / Unilever / P&G supplier packs available on request.

2026 Buyer's guide

How packaging printers should qualify a cold stamping foil supplier

Choosing a cold stamping foil supplier is a technical procurement decision, not a commodity buy. The wrong roll can idle a UV-flexo line for a full shift; the right roll can lift a folding-carton range from mid-tier to luxury shelf tier without changing the base substrate. This guide walks packaging printers, converters and brand-side procurement teams through the exact criteria we see purchasing managers use in 2026 when they benchmark wholesale cold foil rolls for pressure-sensitive labels, folding cartons and flexible packaging.

1. Confirm the supplier is mill-direct, not a trading desk

Roughly two-thirds of "cold foil suppliers" on B2B marketplaces are trading agents that source master rolls from a handful of Chinese, Korean and German mills, then re-slit and re-label. A mill-direct supplier owns the vacuum-metallising chamber, the coating line and the slitting hall on one site. That control matters for three reasons: (a) traceability — a single lot ID follows the roll from PET carrier receipt through Certificate of Analysis; (b) color repeatability — the pigment recipe is held in-house, not brokered; (c) speed — a color-match request routes to the lab in hours, not weeks. Ask any supplier to show you a factory audit report, the ISO 9001 certificate matched to the manufacturing address, and a live coating-line photograph with a date stamp. If they can't, they are reselling.

2. Match the foil chemistry to your press and adhesive

Cold foil is not a single product — it is a stack of PET carrier, release layer, aluminium deposit, tie-coat and top-lacquer, tuned for a specific adhesive chemistry and press platform. UV-flexo label presses (MPS, Gallus, Nilpeter, Mark Andy) typically pair a 12 µm PET carrier with a free-radical or cationic UV adhesive at 1.5–3.0 g/m². Sheetfed offset (Heidelberg, KBA, Manroland) usually runs a 12 µm or 19 µm carrier with a cationic UV cold-foil adhesive laid down through the coater unit before the foil nip. High-speed carton presses (Bobst M6, KBA Rapida 145) often specify the heavier 19 µm carrier for tension stability at 400+ m/min. A capable cold foil rolls supplier will ask about your press make, cold-foil module, adhesive brand, cure energy in mJ/cm², anilox BCM and substrate GSM before quoting — not after.

3. Read the compliance dossier before the first PO

For any brand shipping into the EU, US, UK or Japan, the cold stamping foil that ends up on a folding carton is treated as a packaging component under food-contact, REACH and Prop 65 regimes. A credible supplier includes, by default: a Certificate of Analysis per lot, a REACH SVHC declaration referencing the current candidate list, RoHS 3 compliance, EU 10/2011 for food-contact secondary packaging, FDA 21 CFR 175.105 for adhesive components, and California Prop 65 statements. Nestlé, Unilever, P&G and LVMH supplier packs are usually available on request. If a supplier's dossier is more than 12 months out of date or missing SVHC references, escalate — the SVHC candidate list is updated twice a year and stale declarations create audit risk downstream at the brand owner.

4. Insist on a 48-hour sample roll and a documented press trial

Sampling behaviour is a fast filter. Serious mill-direct suppliers ship a 200–500 mm × 50–100 lm sample roll within 48 hours by DHL Express or FedEx Priority, at their own cost, for any qualified converter. During the press trial, a good supplier will screen-share with your press operator to tune anilox coverage, adhesive laydown and pull-tension — most jobs qualify in one shift. Document the trial: press speed, foil consumption per 1,000 impressions, pinhole rate, edge waviness, and adhesion tested by ASTM D3359 cross-hatch. That single report becomes the reference for every reorder. Suppliers that quote before they sample, or refuse to support a press trial, are almost always trading desks.

5. Benchmark landed cost, not headline price

A $0.28/lm mill-direct quote and a $0.45/lm distributor quote look very different on a purchase order — but the real comparison is landed cost per finished label or per printed sheet. Factor in: foil consumption rate (a well-matched foil runs at 1.0–1.1× coverage; a poorly matched one at 1.4–1.8×), waste on setup, downtime cost per hour of your press, freight terms (FCA vs FOB vs DDP), duty class, and reorder lead time. For most overseas converters, a mill-direct quote from Wenzhou plus air-express sample rolls and sea-freight production rolls beats a chain of intermediaries once freight, duty, brokerage and inventory carrying cost are counted — while cutting reorder lead time and preserving direct contact with the manufacturer.

6. Plan for reorder consistency, not just the first shipment

The single most common complaint about cold foil across converter forums is color drift between lots — a bright gold that shifted half a Pantone step warmer six months into a program. Ask any prospective supplier how long they retain the master pigment recipe and how many reorders they guarantee within ΔE ≤ 1.5 of the approved swatch. Our answer is 24 months and unlimited reorders from the same master batch for 12 months, because we hold the pigment lot in a dedicated bin. If a supplier will not commit to a written ΔE target, the risk of a mid-program color shift sits with your brand — not with them.

Applied together, these six checks separate a genuine mill-direct cold stamping foil manufacturer from a re-labelled trader. For a deeper technical walkthrough of the substrate, adhesive and press interactions, see our cold foil pillar guide and the wholesale metallic cold foil rolls buyer guide. Converters running qualification trials this quarter can also request the full cold-foil spec sheet and compliance dossier directly.
